I am Dutch and my girlfriend is Chinese. Of course we talk English together, even though her English has a close relationship with Chinglish (or Chinese English). It is cute, but not correct of course. So I am her teacher. I teach her English and Dutch. She wants to live with me and the Dutch government has the rule; living in Holland means knowing some basic skills of Dutch. So I've send her a book. And she studies. This Sunday we used the microphone for the first verbal lesson. Again it was really cute. I am of course in love with her, so everything she does is cute, but her Dutch wasn't that bad actually. She just repeated some words, like vis (fish), jas (coat) and it didn't sound like Dutch just yet, but I was able to understand her. It was her first go with Dutch. So I am hopeful and proud. I tried to learn Chinese some time ago, so I know how hard it must be for her. I stunk, but she is my better half, so I hope she will get the better of me and be excellent in Dutch  I never imagined myself being a teacher, but I must say it was very tired some, but also equally great. Hoi Muffles, I too am learning a few words in Dutch. So far I can say Groeten (greetings), Met vriendelije groeten (with friendly greetings), tot ziens (till later) and veel liefs (lots of love). How's that! OceanSong
