True Love!! ... Dedicated to my beloved daughter 'sibila'

The story is about a Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani, who fell in love with a French actress in Tbilisi, her name was Margarita. All he possessed were his house and his paintingboards, which he sold in order to buy her the beloved flowers. The Russian writer Konstantin Paustovskii described the story in his book: "The carts were full of flowers up till edges, with drops of water, seemed like the early-dew sprinkled them with billions of rainbow drops. The carts stopped at Margarita's house. Carters talked awhile with each other in low voices, and then started to unload the carts and throw flowers on the ground in front of gates, covering stones in pavement and road. Yes, these were thousands of flowers that Niko got for his beloved woman."(quote)
In early 1980's, when the famous Latvian composer Raymond Pauls arrived to Tbilisi with Alla Pugacheva (the most famous russian pop singer), they got to know about this romantic story. He was deeply impressed and few months later, his song went around the world. Alla of course agreed to interprete

Billion Roses

Once upon a time there was a poor artist
He had a house and his paintboards.
But he was in love with an actress,
The one who loved the flowers.

Then he sold his house.
Sold his paintings and bruches
And for all the money he bought
A whole sea of flowers.

Billion, billion and billion fire red roses
you'll see out your window
who is in love,
who is seriously in love
I'll turn my life into flowers
....for you......
